Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is a group of individuals, couples and families that come early or stay after the weekend worship services to prepare for Holy Communion or to clean up after afterward. If you are interested in serving in this way, please contact our Church Secretary Grace Bergt at churchoffice@gslcs.org. We will train you and help you get started.

Cleanup

  1. The pastors and elders will consume any remaining consecrated elements immediately following the service.
  2. The unconsecrated elements can be used at the next service or set saved for the next week.
  3. There will be a tub so that all the individual glasses can be collected, then rinsed in the right hand side of the sink, this water will go out to our Sacrarium.
  4. The individual glasses can then be loaded into the “Saint Saver” (instructions and pictures included).
  5. The “Saint Savers” can then be loaded into the dishwasher.  And the dishwasher started.
  • The glasses can be stored in these until they are needed again.
  1. The chalice can be cleansed with a soft lint free cloth, and the inside with warm water and a mild dish soap.
  2. The Flagon can be cleaned the same way after Sunday’s 10:30 service.
  3. After the sink is done being used, water needs to be run it for about 10-15 seconds.
  4. The purificators will need to be washed each weekend.

Fillers

Notes:  After each service count how many have taken communion and write on the attendance sheet.  There are 40 cups in each tray.

Please do not leave the Siphon and Bulb in the wine bottle.  Pressure builds up and wine spills all over.  Save the cap and put on bottle of unused wine.

Rinse used bottles and leave on counter to be recycled.

Clean Up

Anyone that can laundry any of the cloths or linens that have spots on them, would be appreciated.  Please bring back before the next Saturday service.
