Join friends as we travel to historic Frankenmuth, Michigan. The area was first settled in 1845 by 15 Germans under the leadership of Rev. August Craemer. They came from their native Neuendettelsau, Germany to evangelize the Native Americans living in the Saginaw Valley.

The first structure the settlers built was the log church, followed quickly by a school. Attracted to the rich soil and plentiful lumber, the evangelists turned farmers and businessmen, formed the town of Frankenmuth. Meanwhile, the little log church, St. Lorenz Lutheran, grew to be one of the founding churches of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. For a time St. Lorenz was the largest church in the LCMS and remains an active congregation with a large Lutheran day school.

Now a bustling tourist destination, Frankenmuth retains its German roots and architectural style. Families from around the state and nation travel to Frankenmuth to enjoy the world-famous family-style chicken dinners, the Christmas store, and more.
