Stress is a common problem for all of us at one point or another in our lives. Sin causes the world and our own lives to be troubled. God told Adam and Eve that their lives would become difficult because of sin: “Cursed is the ground for your sake;
In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are,
And to dust you shall return.” (Genesis 3.17-19)
Prayer
Dear God, You have promised, "Fear not for I am with you. Be not afraid for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous right hand" (Isaiah 40.1). O Lord, help me in my distress! If I have caused this myself with my own actions or my failure to do Your will, please help me to see my failings and lead me to repentance and renewal. If this pain is caused by the actions of others around me, please help me to bear these burdens with Your strength. O Lord, help me through this rough time by remembering Your promise, "All things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8.28), and "Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy" (Psalm 126.5). Lead me and guide me in all things that I may do my best but leave the final outcome to You. "You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind in stayed on You" (Isaiah 26.3).
